Argyroupoli is located 24 kilometers west of the town of Rethymno and is one of the most beautiful villages of natural wealth of Crete.

Argyroupoli is covered in tall green trees and springs with torrential streams, the power of which previously operated 11 different mills that currently do not have functionality.

The village is built on the ancient city of Lappa, estimated around the 2nd century BC and refers to various ancient references as to its participation in the expedition of the Greeks against Troy in the War of Lyttos 220 BC and participated in the expedition of M. Alexander against Persians 333 BC. Later destroyed by the Romans, but was rebuilt by Octavian, due to residents help in his feud with Mark Antony, granting it the right to mint its own currency. In and around the village there are various attractions of the ancient period.

It is ideal place to enjoy with your family Cretan traditional cuisine in one of the restaurants operated by the waters and relax under the cool shade of the trees while enjoying nature.
